Its About Time!

I finally sat down to paint today for the first time in many months! It took my friend C.W. to invite me to her house so we could both be "inspired". The plan was to paint spring flowers and the thought was to do something for notecards.

C.W. bought some primroses, cyclymen, and marigolds. I purchased a six-pack of pansies in varied colors. She has a wonderful workroom overlooking the lake and we spread out to begin painting around 9:30 this morning.

I took my inspiration from a book I checked out of the Oakhurst library that had some ideas for pansies and tulips. I sketched and painted right on some watercolor notecards I had from many years back...saving them for today! HA! I enjoyed doing some mixing of colors I don't normally use: scarlet lake (a coral red) for the tulips and rose madder (a pink) for the pansies.

C.W. took another approach and she did three larger sketches of a clay pot with cyclamen, a primrose in a pot, and some pansies. She is going to paint them and then have them reduced to glue to the front of notecards.

We had a great time and will have to do it again since we aren't enrolled in any classes.
