Whirlwind Winetasting...

Paso Robles here we come!
This past weekend was our first outing with a serious group of wine tasters from Fresno. Eighteen of us set out on Friday morning for a day of tasting at five of Paso Robles wonderful wineries. Our first stop was Eberle Winery, right off Highway 46. This is the tasting room and Kenny is holding a great representational tin sun from Haiti which we bought to take down to the Arizona house! We had fun collecting patches, pins, or wine labels from each of the wineries as momentos of the weekend.
These are our friends (and Bass Lake neighbors) Lisa and Joey Marzullo. They, along with Daena and Joey Forestierre (pictured below), were the organizers of the great weekend.
After tasting some of Eberle's wines we were taken on a tour of the caves below the tasting room, which hold the aging barrels of wine as well as the fermenting tanks seen here, and..a couple of spots for private tastings and parties. This was set up for an event on Friday evening. Our second stop was at J. Lohr Vineyards and Wines on Airport Road. I am pretty sure that our relative Marge Miller leases land on this road to J. Lohr. The winery had set up in a special room for a large group tasting with Dennis as our host. Then we went to a small winery, Mitchella Vineyards and Wine, on Mitchell Road. This is the owner's home and wine tasting room all in one. They were so accomodating and welcomed us to view their kitchen and great room, right off the tasting room. We scheduled to use the patio and have lunch there. It was quite a spread with Italian cold cuts, breads, cheeses, fruit and John's muffuletta sandwich. He is from Lake Charles, Louisiana and has brought this sandwich recipe with him. It is similar to the sourdough round sandwich I have been making for almost 30 years, but I am looking forward to trying this one, as it uses Armenian peda bread instead. After lunch we headed to Vina Robles Vineyards, just down the road from Mitchella. It is a beautiful mission style winery.
The tasting room had high ceilings and lots of art with a great gift shop.
Our last stop of the day was Robert Hall Winery. It is a beautiful brick building with outdoor fountains. Here we are on the way to the tasting room.
The tasting room was spaceous with beautiful arched windows.
Following our tasting experience we adjourned to the Bocce Ball Court for some serious competition.
Joey paced out the size of the court. He is planning for a court in the back of their Bass Lake cabin and needed to check out the measurements.
We left the last stop around 5pm and headed for the Adelaide Inn in Paso Robles. It is right behind the Black Oak Restaurant, where we used to eat back in the '60s. Dinner that night was at McPhee's Grill in Templeton. Great Food and company.

More tomorrow on Saturday's tastings...

Fun!!! Josh and I will have to try out the Paso Robles wineries sometime in the future, too. I've always been curious about them and now, from your beautiful pictures, know that we would enjoy them. Glad you had a good time!
