We spent most of the weekend (mainly Sunday) doing paint touch-up (Kenny outside and me inside), cleaning out the three dry creekbeds, washing windows, and general cleaning besides laundry. All this is in preparation for the Bass Lake Home Tour, which is this coming Saturday. We are honored to have been asked to share our home this year. This is an annual event sponsored by the Bass Lake Lions Club and Bass Lake Realty. We are anxious for the members and home owners pre-tour on Friday night, when we have a tour of all of the six homes on the tour. I've been digging out some of our fall decorations from pumpkins to scarecrows to Dept 56 items and fall leaves. Check out basslakehometour.com.
We did have some fun on Friday evening. Our friend Dave Carlson has invited us for the last three years to be part of the Picking Party he has to pick some of his wine grapes. The Zinfandel grapes were quite easy to pick this year as he had cut back the vines and cleaned up around them the day before. After the grapes were crushed we enjoyed swimming and a wonderful steak dinner with some of Dave's award winning wines....and a magnum of Kent cabernet.
I still have a couple of projects to do before Friday and the usual dusting and vaccuming, but all in all things are coming together well. The organizers prefer that the owners are not present for the actual home tour and luckily we were planning on going to Fresno for the FSU vs Wisconsin game...we just need to leave early in the morning, as it begins at 10am. So, I will be making my Santa Maria Pink Beans on Thursday and heating them up at the Pope's in Clovis! We are taking eight guests to our regular tailgate group...the Popes, Slatens, T. Cooks, and Jerry and Nancy. Should be a fun event and we just might win!!!
