Red Wave Buzz...

We have returned from a great weekend in Pasadena. Members of our tailgate group the Calvinos, Crafts, Adames, Norquists, and us traveled down on Friday for the big game, the first meeting of Fresno State and UCLA at the Rose Bowl since 2000. There were approximately 18,000 Bulldog fans who braved the Southern California freeways to see the game on Saturday afternoon in way over 90 degree weather.

We opted to travel down on Friday afternoon and stay at the Hilton. Our group had a great dinner at Santorini (Mediterranean cuisine) in downtown Pasadena. The rooftop patio reminded us of our Mediterranean trip two years ago and our similar rooftop dinner at the Athen's Hilton, overlooking the Acropolis.

Participation in the FSU Alumni Association tailgate proved to be a good choice with barbecued tri-tip, fried chicken, cornbread, pasta and potato salad, cookies, and drinks on the menu.
Part of our group enjoying the great lunch...and it's getting warmer!
We were starting to "glisten" when this picture was taken, ready for some shade, but then the band made its grand entrance...

We knew it was going to be warm, but even the morning tailgate proved to be hard to deal with. We finally found some shade just prior to entering the stadium. Brother Dennis and wife Marsha, sister Laurie and husband Daymond, and Marsha's cousin Cheryl and husband Don all came by for a "quick" visit before they departed for the stadium as well. They were in the south end zone and we were in the north, so this was our only opportunity to be able to see them.
The contingent from Clovis, King City, and Santa Clarita.
Marsha and Dennis with their program in hand and on their way to their seats.Had to get a picture of the three Fresno State grads (with Marsha in the background)!

Fresno State went on to win the hard fought game and we enjoyed the post-game events, right in front of us. The band, cheer team and mascot, players, and coaches added to the celebration. We now have bragging rights, until the next game!
