Saturday Hike

On Saturday morning I drove to Evan and Kim's house and we loaded up the dogs and a picnic lunch and headed for the White Tank Mountains Regional Park for a hiking adventure. It is about a half hour from their house and has great trails for walking, horseback riding, and biking. Their are day-use areas and even campsites. The desert is starting its spring bloom and the weather was ideal for hiking.
Petrogliphs in the desert rock left by the local Indians
Lots of different kinds of cacti
The Engle family taking a break on the trail
Beautiful desert saguaro
Silhouette

It's a maze!Looking back to the valley towards Phoenix

Another break on the trail...A beautiful barrel cactus (How's this one, Larry?)I think this is a blue-tailed skink...nice close-up!

The yellow daisy-like bushes were in profusion as well as

fiddleneck, lupine, brodea, and others blooming as well.

The return trek to the car...
