Sunday was our 39th anniversary and we decided on a couple of things to do to comemorate the occasion. The big surprise was tickets to see Chicago, the musical group, in Fresno on Oct 1. That should be fun! We took the boat over to The Forks for a breakfast burrito and then went for a spin around the lake.
That evening we went up to Tenaya Lodge for a wonderful gourmet dinner. At the time we went, 6 pm, there was hardly anyone in the restaurant, so we felt like we had the place to ourselves. I think there are a couple of reasons why. One is that it is a family destination, being just a couple of miles from the Yosemite entrance, and they were still enjoying the pool, hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Second the host said that most of their customers come in after 8pm. Many of their guests are Europeans, who normally eat later and the guests probably like to dine after dark. Anyway, the cedar plank wild salmon and grilled barramundi were fantastic.
Now, to plan for our 40th (ruby...hint, hint) anniversary next year. I think a cruise or trip is in the future!!!
I had my second B12 shot yesterday and am feeling a bit better. I will be giving myself the monthly injection from now on. On the good new side, my doctor says I should be feeling much better in 4-5 months and should be off my Lyrica medication in a couple of months. Thank goodness.
Fall must be in the air as we have been making jam (mountain blackberry....we picked the berries here at Bass Lake ourselves) and 12 pints of Dilly Beans (Raley's had them on sale this week). Beat Grandma and Laurie to the punch! Some of the oak leaves have been falling already. An article in the Fresno Bee explained that this usually doesn't happen until November, but the trees are feeling stressed because of the lack of moisture, so the leaves begin to fall early.
Our Bookmarker's Book Club had a good discussion of Anne Morrow Lindbergh's Gift From The Sea and a reflective book, No More Words, about her mother last days by Reeve Lindbergh. We then went to Miller's at Bass Lake for a great outdoor lunch and more conversations. It is such fun to be together with each and every member of our group of ten.
