Preparations Underway

After spending all day yesterday shopping in Fresno, today will be spent preparing salads, etc. for the upcoming Labor Day Weekend. We are expecting Leslie and Emily (along with her friends Taylor and Megan), Mom and Dad, Laurie (and maybe Katie) to arrive tomorrow. This is the first time that Emily has been able to bring up some friends to enjoy the lake. I purchased some new rafts and noodles so we can play and relax in the water once we anchor the boat.

Tonight is the last Jazz on the Lake, so we hope to go out and enjoy the fireworks which accompany the last musical foray of the season. We've already been invited to the annual The Tourists Have Gone Away party on the 12th that signals we locals can take back control of Bass Lake!

We feel bad for Evan and Kim who had to postpone their trip this weekend to New Orleans because of the expected arrival of hurricane Gustov. They really wanted to go, but finally decided that because of the imminent possible emergency situation that it was best to call it off. They will be going next spring to Kathy's graduation (Master's program) from Tulane and hope the weather will be much better. Meanwhile, they are making back-up plans for the weekend.

On Wednesday my good friend Cindy W. and I were so excited to be able to go to fellow watercolor artist Leislie Dearing's home to view and possibly purchase some of her wonderful artwork. I was fortunate enough to buy a large one of an old barn on North Fork road to put above our bed (and Ken loved it, too) and a smaller panel of beautiful spring iris for beside the Great Room fireplace. She does a great job showing light in her paintings and of mixing and blending colors.

We hope you all have a safe, happy Labor Day holiday! (Great choice by John McCain of Sarah Palin for his VP candidate)
