Dinner Group Weekend

Our recently organized Dinner Group (we're working on a standout name) met for our second dinner at our home at Bass Lake last weekend. The three other couples arrived at 2pm on Saturday. After the tour of the interior, especially for the two couples who had not been here before, the guys played a little pickleball....in the near 100 degree heat! The gals relaxed inside for a while. Around 4pm we took a trip down to the dam area in the pontoon boat and did some swimming and enjoyed some great appetizers and wine.
Holly and Dan hold on to their hats as Ken heads down the lake to the dam area.
Everett has no problem with his hat (sitting in the back of the boat helps).

We returned to have some bruschetta (yum) and delicious fresh figs filled with goat cheese and wrapped with prosciutto (yum, yum). We then enjoyed a three course dinner, paired with various wines. First course was a grilled romaine Caesar salad. The second course was grilled Fresno State filet mignon, potato casserole, plus haricot verts (organic green beans) with onions and bacon. Last course was a smores chocolate cheesecake with raspberries and blueberries. All of the wine were wonderful and everyone was stuffed when we finally finished dinner around 11:30pm. Some still had room for a Black Russian nightcap though.
The Dinner Group (minus you know who, alias the photographer) having the first course.
We all know how well Kenny likes his desserts...this one was from Bon Appetit
Priscilla and Everett as well as Holly enjoying the dessert and after dinner wine.
Dan, Sue and Larry enjoying the decadent dessert!
After a good night's sleep and some wake-up coffee, we headed to the boat once again. This time we set course for The Forks, which is almost straight across the lake, for a mid-morning breakfast and visit with Leslie and Ron Cox who own and run the restaurant during the summer months. Several of our members have known Leslie since their college days and enjoyed a quick visit with her. The breakfast burritos there are fantastic. however, Everett loved the huge pancakes just as much.
