Half Marathon and Landscaping

This is the first opportunity I have had to sit down and publish another posting on my blog. We have been so busy since our arrival in Arizona on the 11th. Here is a quick overview of what has been happening.
The P.F. Chang's Rock n Roll Arizona Marathon and Half Marathon was run last Sunday. It was a beautiful day for the race and our three runners (Mark had to withdraw with a bad knee) did quite well. Here are some pictures I took from Mill and Rio Salada, where Don Beringson and I were among the many spectators encouraging the runners along.

Evan is coming off the bridge, on his way to the finish line...before the other two!!!
Two minutes later Kim came by, listening to her IPOD.
Kenny was hamming it up when he went by! I think he was just happy to see some friendly faces and he knew the finish line was not far away.

The happy finishers of the half-marathon. (This was Kim and Evan's fifth!)

That night we had dinner, as is the tradition, at the Yardhouse at Westgate. (Evan, Kim, Don and Karen Beringson, Lew and Cindy Lancaster, and us). The beer (Alaskan Amber) and steak sandwiches are still awesome!

Monday morning our landscape company started the job on our Arizona home at Corte Bella. These pictures were taken yesterday (Tuesday) and they show how much had been accomplished in just two days. They are making good progress and all of it should be done in two weeks. There will be a dry creekbed in the front with lighted paver walkway to the street. there will be a paver patio in the courtyard for a table and chairs. Later we will put in a water feature in the courtyard. In the back we will have an extended paver patio with a firepit...Kenny has to have his marshmallow smores!
